Release Info: Circle's long out-of-print debut album (originally released by Bad Vugum in 1994) has now been re-released by Ektro Records. This new release features updated album artwork and has been digitally remastered as well. Meronia's 70+ minutes of simultaneously mesmerizing and crushing songs laid the foundations for future Circle albums to come. Although various incarnations of the band have since created over 20 full length releases, the fundamental things at the heart of Circle were already present on this first album.

Release Info : This was the legendary cult/commune's penultimate album-thunderous native American Indian drums mixed with acid drenched feedback guitar, twisted vocals and a childrens song make for one of the most mind-altering albums ever. Comes with an insert of reflections on the record from the family. "At the end of 1974 The Source sold their restaurant and moved to Hawaii. There they went looking for paradise only to encounter hostile locals, who were reluctant to rent out a pad for Yahowa and his 13 wives, forcing them to temporarily retreat to Northern California. But they eventually reconfigured themselves and returned to Hawaii for a final fractious stand. "To the Principles, for the children" dates from this period and the tension shows. Its two long tracks are broken into untitled fragments, one of them an ode to "woman power" worthy of Helen Reddy. More frequently Yahowa locks into heaven chant mode, surrounded by instrumental rings that recall The Magic Band of "Abba Zabba". Very possibly, this album explains a great deal of the Father's philosophy-that is, if you can make out the words, of which there are many. By way of compensation the ensemble seamlessly blends effects and percussion, and when the kids' chorus of "Yahowa" starts up at the end you'll know you've already been somewhere." Guitar and electronics sound like neither, while sprawling percussion tumbles across the rotten landscape. Release Info: This is the first vinyl release for The GTC, a horrible mess of strangulated trumpet, violent tempos and destroyed guitar. A modern mix of Honeywell and Constatine Sankathi, but without the goofy ex-girlfriend imagery, metallic influence or derivative haircuts. These four songs capture the frustration and disarray of too many modems and not enough human emotion in modern middle-class America. There are 626 copies on clear red vinyl, all with unusual center stickers and a handmade touch.

Release Info: "There's four tracks here, starting with "Rautakaarme", an atmospheric seven-minute cut featuring monkish chant, eerie drone, and energetic bursts of rock action. Second track "Tulilintu" is *entirely* active and energetic, really bringing in the headbanging, fist-pumping metal, complete with guitar leads and soaring screams in the manner of Rob Halford. Seriously. The lyrics are in Finnish (presumably) so we don't know how tongue-in-cheek-or-not they are. Track three, "Berserk", is kinda weird, another atmospheric exercise with some lines in English like "I'm a scorpion" and "I'm a crocodile" spoken over rather spooky, bass-heavy grooves. A lot of tension in this one. Could almost be a noirish film soundtrack from the '70s, but with additional "circular" electric guitar riffing. Then the final track "Puutiikeri" arrives, pretty much taking over the album since it's an epic 24 minute affair, beginning and ending with authentic heavy metal riffing, but journeying far and wide in-between. Creaky improv splatter, lush keyboards, gently whispering vocals, spacey electronic effects, chugging, pulsating rhythms (of course!), and even some quasi-techno beats (!) are stirred into this weird mix. Ranging in mood from calm tranquility to flat out rockin', this is a real trip, as is all of Tulikoira. If you've been following Circle's output in recent years, and rolling with all their eccentricies, from Sunrise to Guillotine to Forest to Empire, you'll be happy to add Tulikoria to your collection too!"
